The MIMI and its 0.5 litres
The MIMI extra bag is a 0.5-litre pouch that hooks onto the outside of a LUMABAG backpack. Two short straps with hooks hold it at the top and the bottom, and a zip runs all the way around. Waxed cotton covers the outside, a Cordura lining sits inside. Uwe Arndt sews it in Bremen, and it ships in approx. 7 to 10 days.

Six backpacks give the MIMI a place: the Bromfort, QUER, Brom-E, THE PRO, THE SHORTY and THE URBAN TRAVELLER. In the product shot it sits up front, across the strap on the face of the bag. On THE URBAN TRAVELLER there is one limit: the MIMI only attaches on one side.

Where the MIMI sits among Brompton accessories
Brompton accessories are the kit you add to the folding bike, from frame fittings to luggage. The MIMI marks the small end of the luggage side, one step below any backpack. It hangs on the outside of the pack that comes along anyway. Daily commuters stop digging through the main compartment, because keys and cards sit in one fixed place. Height is 5.5 cm, width 14 cm, depth 8 cm. Volume comes to 0.5 litres, and the bag itself weighs 0.1 kg.

The fabric and the zip
Two fabrics make the MIMI, waxed cotton on the outside and Cordura on the inside. Cordura is a coated nylon of the kind outdoor makers use. A mill in Scotland puts the wax onto the cotton, which leaves the outer shell water-repellent. Lighter lines in the fabric belong to it, they appear when the bag is turned right side out during sewing. The zip runs around the top and opens the pouch across its full length, and a leather label sits on the front. Once the wax wears thin, put on a fresh coat with the wax tin from LUMABAG.

Two straps, two hooks
Each fastener is a short strap with a hook at the end. Two of them sit on opposite sides of the MIMI, one at the top, one at the bottom. You hook one at the top of the backpack and one at the bottom, and the bag stays put. Release both and the MIMI comes along to the café or the office.

Five colours, one tone with the backpack
Otter Green is the olive tone in the LUMABAG colour range, Scarlett the red, Tan the beige. Black and Denim, the blue, complete the set. Every one of the six backpacks comes in Black and Tan, and all but the Bromfort in Otter Green. The QUER, Brom-E and THE URBAN TRAVELLER also come in Denim, and those three plus THE SHORTY in Scarlett.

Does the MIMI fit every LUMABAG backpack?
It sits on six models: the Bromfort, QUER, Brom-E, THE PRO, THE SHORTY and THE URBAN TRAVELLER. On THE URBAN TRAVELLER it holds on one side.
When does the MIMI arrive?
After approx. 7 to 10 days, and approx. 2 to 3 days later outside Germany. The backpacks take longer.
What goes into 0.5 litres?
Keys, cards and the small things you want within reach. The dimensions of 5.5 × 14 × 8 cm set the limit.
How does the MIMI sit on the bike?
Its place is the backpack. The two hooks at the top and the bottom carry it there.
Why an extra bag next to the pockets on the backpack?
The difference from the open side pocket on THE SHORTY is the zip. It closes the compartment all the way around, and the MIMI comes off the pack as well.
