The Bromfort at a glance

The Bromfort is a bike backpack built for the Brompton folding bike. It clicks straight into the front carrier block and moves from bike to back in one motion. LUMABAG sews every Bromfort to order in Bremen, Germany. The outer fabric is waxed cotton, the lining is Cordura. With 22 to 30 litres of volume, padded shoulder straps and a laptop compartment, the Bromfort is built for daily rides with luggage.

Material: waxed cotton outside, Cordura inside

On the outside, the Bromfort is waxed cotton; the inside is lined with Cordura. Waxed cotton is a cotton fabric with a wax-treated surface. A mill in Scotland finishes the fabric. The wax layer makes it water-repellent, and the carefully worked material keeps the backpack hard-wearing. Light crease marks appear when the pack is turned right side out and belong to the material. Cordura is a single-side coated nylon that is mostly used outdoors because of its robustness. Into the base of every Bromfort, Uwe Arndt sews a piece of recycled bicycle tyre that looks different on every bag. Each Bromfort is one of a kind. Since 2001, Uwe Arndt has been sewing bags in Bremen.

How the Bromfort mounts on the Brompton

The Bromfort needs the Brompton front carrier block on the bike. The front carrier block sits at the front of the Brompton and takes the bag together with its frame. The matching bag frame comes with every backpack. Set the Bromfort on the block and it clicks in place. Roll the top down and fix it with the Fidlock magnetic closure. The roll-top gives the Bromfort its growing volume. A side zip pocket (YKK) keeps phone and keys within reach. The padded shoulder straps adjust in length. A loop on the back holds the straps in place for longer rides. Loops on the back also take the separate carry strap. This way, you wear the Bromfort as a shoulder bag. Inside sits a padded compartment for 13 to 15 inch laptops, plus two flat pockets. The Bromfort measures H 34 to 59 × W 33 × D 20 cm. It holds 22 to 30 litres and weighs 1.5 kg, or 1.9 kg with the bag frame. The volume figure covers the main compartment. The side and front pockets add extra space. Delivery takes approx. 2 to 3 weeks, because every Bromfort is sewn after you order.

Bromfort or THE URBAN TRAVELLER?

Compared with the classic LUMABAG Brompton backpack THE URBAN TRAVELLER, the Bromfort offers extra pockets and padded shoulder straps. The Urban Traveller weighs 1.25 kg, the Bromfort itself 1.5 kg. Riders who want the lightest setup pick the Urban Traveller. Commuters who ride daily with a laptop take the Bromfort.

The carry strap for the Bromfort

With the carry strap for Bromfort, QUER and Brom-E, you wear the backpack as a shoulder bag. The strap fits Bromfort, QUER and Brom-E. Loops for it come fitted on every Bromfort. You order the strap separately.

Which laptops fit into the Bromfort?

Laptops from 13 to 15 inches fit into the padded compartment, depending on the exact dimensions of the device. Next to it, the Bromfort offers two flat pockets.

Is the Bromfort waterproof?

The Bromfort is water-repellent. The waxed cotton lets rain bead off instead of soaking in. The LUMABAG wax tin restores the coating whenever it fades.

Bin sehr zufrieden. Der Rucksack macht einen extrem robusten Eindruck.
Alle verwendeten, Materialien, Gurte und Schnallen sind hochwertig, stabil und belastbar. Die Verarbeitungsqualität aller Nähte sieht top aus und er bietet mit den zusätzlichen Seitentaschen viel Stauraum und Möglichkeiten Ordnung zu halten. Auch wenn er nicht ganz billig ist, ist er sein Geld wirklich wert.

Ich habe mir dieses stylische Raumwunder im November letztes Jahr in der Farbe schwarz gekauft und bin begeistert: der Rucksack ist sehr hochwertig, geräumig und sitzt bequem auf dem Rücken. Es passt nicht nur alles für den Weg zur Arbeit rein sondern auch für einen Wochenendausflug. Ich bin mehrfach durch den Regen gefahren und der Inhalt meines Rucksacks ist ausnahmslos trocken geblieben. Für mich die perfekte Lösung zum Pendeln. Was mir auch sehr gefällt: Der Rucksack passt nicht nur bequem auf den Trägerblock des Brompton, er passt auch prima auf den Trägerblock vom Vello bike+. Alles in allem: ein sehr guter, nachhaltiger Rucksack.
