The workshop
Designed in Bremen. Sewn by Uwe. Built for decades.
LUMABAG is a small Bremen workshop: design, cutting and every seam come from Uwe Arndt — these days supported by part-time helpers. The name goes back to the first bag, sewn in 1997 from an old air mattress — 'LUftMAtratze' in German.
Does the bag fit my Brompton — including the Electric?
All backpack models are made for the Brompton front carrier block — THE SHORTY, for example, for the A, C, G, P and T Line. For the Brompton Electric there is the Brom-E. Each product page lists the matching bag frame.
How long does delivery take?
Every piece is sewn only when you order. The current delivery time is shown on the product page. Shipping within Germany is free.
How waterproof is waxed cotton?
Waxed cotton is water-repellent — rain showers are no problem. Only the seams are the weak spot in prolonged heavy rain; for long tours in bad weather a rain cover is recommended.
How do I care for my bag?
Brush off dirt and clean with cold water and a sponge if needed — no soap, no washing machine. Re-wax harder-worn spots with the wax tin, about once a year with regular use.
